Come and explore the Flinders Ranges by bike with Escapegoat Adventures! We specialise in small group trips to the heart of the Flinders Ranges. ‘Flinders Ranges by bike‘ is a 200km cycle adventure, which starts at Wilpena Pound, and takes in some of the most stunning areas of this amazing location. The loop, created by local land owners, takes you through private properties as well as national park land, and covers sections not normally open to the public. It links parts of the Mawson Trail with an existing network of old pastoral trails on each property.
It takes 4 days to ride, with an average of 50km a day, and a good level of fitness and mountain bike experience is strongly recommended! Whilst much of the trails are fairly straight forward, there are also sections that are technically more challenging, and novice riders will need to test themselves! You will need plenty of stamina, but a reasonably fit rider should have no problems. Vehicle support is also provided by our van.
We will also visit and ride at Melrose, a stunning town in the Southern Flinders Ranges, which has opened it’s doors and land to mountain bikers. We will explore the singletrack trails of this mecca of mountain biking to offer you another side to the riding in this stunning area of Australia.
Group sizes are from four with a maximum of ten, so everyone is well looked after while enjoying the magical Flinders Ranges. Every night we will stop and stay at an Outback station in comfortable accommodation- either historic cottages, renovated shearers quarters or historic hotels.
A recent review from ‘Chris’:-
“I recently went on the Flinders Ranges tour and it was excellent. It was very well organized with great food, good accommodation and the bike ride was well supported by Ian and Dave. It was a great way to see the Flinders Ranges which were spectacular. We did 50kms a day which was perfect. Being 60 I was worried that it would be too much for me however with plenty of rest stops it was fine. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to see the Flinders Ranges.”
Trips depart and return from Adelaide. The tour is run from March until November (subject to numbers)- a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 guests are required to run the trip.
